Down to Earth

Our pride and flagship function venue is situated in our main building. Aptly named “Down to Earth”, it was built with cob (a clay and straw mixture, meticulously and strenuously prepared by foot) and timber, which provides a rugged yet stylish interior complemented by high wooden ceilings, stained glass gables and a variety of yellowwood tables and blackwood chairs.

The venue has a 185m² wooden deck overlooking the rolling green landscape, surrounded by forest with the blue Indian Ocean framed by the silhouette of Mossel Bay in the background.

The venue provides inside seating for up to 90 guests (this includes a small dance floor), plus an additional 70 guests can be seated outside on the deck under our marquee tent. The deck can be used for any additional purposes, from the ceremony to a spitbraai, or as welcoming area where you guests can enjoy your favourite entrée with some bubbly or a welcome drink.

The vast open lawn in front of the venue and the terrace area next to it offers a 270° view of the ocean, forests, and mountains, and also provides an idyllic spot for an impressive open-air ceremony or it can be utilised as welcoming area or area for any outdoor activity.

The venue is well-known for its affordable and tasteful traditional country cuisine like our famous red wine oxtail, leg of lamb, gammon, stuffed pork roll, pumpkin fritters and home-made breads with pâté and jams but we can also accommodate other requests. For wine lovers, we offer a cellar stocked with a wide selection of handpicked South African wines.

The Down to Earth venue is available for weddings, conferences, functions as well as any other events – contact us today to book your special date! For more information, see our upcoming public events page or contact us directly.
